Collect recorded answers with camera and microphone input, review transcripts, and continue with AI Follow-up. Video Interviews let respondents answer with a recorded video instead of uploading a prepared file. The flow is designed to make consent, recording, and processing clear from the first screen to the completed response.

Add a Video Interview question

In the Survey Builder, add a Video Interview question from the question type menu — alongside Rating, Email address, Date and time, File upload, and the other blocks — and place it where you want to collect a recorded answer. Preview the respondent experience before sharing the interview. Like every other question, the block supports an optional supporting image under Media (optional) and the Wait before advancing timer — see Wait timer for questions with media.

What the respondent sees

1

Permissions

Grants microphone permission, then camera permission.
2

Preview

Checks the live preview and chooses the camera and microphone.
3

Recording

Starts and stops the recording explicitly.
4

Playback review

Can only continue once the recording’s own playback has finished.
5

Processing

Continues through the survey while the clip is processed.
6

Completed answer

Receives a completed answer with the recorded clip and transcript once processing finishes.
Before starting, Exoid shows a dedicated consent screen: the respondent has to grant both the microphone and the camera to continue with the survey.
The preview keeps a consistent frame on narrow and desktop screens, including when the camera uses portrait or landscape orientation. Recordings can last up to six minutes.

AI Follow-up

Enable AI Follow-up in the block’s configuration when the recorded answer should lead to another question. Exoid waits for a non-empty transcript, uses the answer as context, and generates the next follow-up question within the configured follow-up depth. Each follow-up answer remains part of the same conversation. See AI moderation for the follow-up settings shared with other AI-assisted questions.

Editing the transcript

After processing, authorized users can edit the response’s transcript directly from the campaign results, for example to correct an automatic transcription error before sharing or exporting the data.

If something goes wrong

Permission, recording, upload, and transcription problems are shown as visible errors. Use the available retry or recovery action instead of leaving the interview in an uncertain state. If a recording cannot be processed, it isn’t presented as a completed answer. Playback is available through the authenticated response flow, and videos show up directly in the campaign’s results.
